What breaks, what lasts and what is worth fixing, from a Baltimore repair counter with fifty cracked screens a week.
Sobre Victor Petrov
I am Victor. I have run a phone repair shop in Baltimore for fifteen years. Before that I fixed phones at a mall kiosk. My father taught me to fix radios and watches at the kitchen table after we came here, and I still work the same way, slowly and under the loupe. About fifty cracked screens cross the counter every week. Here I write about cases, screen protectors, batteries and chargers, based on what I see opened up on the bench. I tell you what breaks and what holds. My verdict on most of it: a cheap tempered glass protector saves more screens than an expensive case. A new battery is the most underrated repair there is. Rice does nothing. My son Nikolai works Saturdays. Pixel the shop cat sleeps on the warm bench.
