I'm a backend engineer in Seattle and a father of two, which means my clothes have three jobs: survive rain, survive Eli and June, and look fine on a video call. I started a wardrobe spreadsheet the year Eli was born, and it now holds four years of data. Here I write about low-maintenance clothes, rain gear, kids' clothing and wrinkle-free fabrics, in order. First: what I tested. Second: what I measured, usually shrinkage in centimeters. Third: whether I would buy it again. We live in a split-level in Shoreline with a permanently muddy entryway, which is a lot of data points on mud. Jenny says I should get out more. I do. It's just raining.
