I'm Mike. I run a two-bay garage in West Toledo. Started sweeping floors at a service station at sixteen, did brake jobs by eighteen, spent fifteen years as a dealership tech, then opened my own shop in 2010. My younger son works part-time in the garage. Duke, our old black Lab, sleeps under the desk. Here I cover car care, parts and the tools a home mechanic actually needs. Short steps. Then why. Then my verdict. Most additives and gadgets don't fix a car that was fine to begin with, and I'll say so. First real tool to buy? A decent torque wrench. Brake pads? Don't go bargain. Checking your oil takes two minutes. Do it. Summer Fridays I'm at the drag strip with a rebuilt muscle car. Same rules apply there.
