I'm Lucy, a veterinary nurse at a busy small-animal clinic in Raleigh, and I've spent nine years seeing what good (and not so good) pet care looks like up close. At home it's me, my husband Marcus, Pepper (a border collie mix I run in agility) and Juniper, a fifteen-year-old tabby who glares at everyone. Here I write about the gear, food and grooming questions people ask me at the front desk, plus plenty of clinic stories about dogs who eat dish sponges. I'll explain the vet terms as I go. Honestly, a home grooming session is the best early check for lumps and ticks, and most people skip it.
