Dave Kowalczyk

Sobre Dave Kowalczyk

Dave. General contractor. Milwaukee. I've run a kitchen-and-basement outfit for about twenty years with a crew of four, and my son is a second-year carpentry apprentice on it. Started framing houses with my uncle at seventeen. Lost the tip of a finger to a table saw in my twenties, so yes, I talk about safety on every job and in every post. That's the point. Here you'll get the tools and hardware I actually use, what's worth paying for and what isn't, and how to prep a room so the work holds up. Prep is ninety percent of any renovation. Buy once, cry once. A cordless drill comes before any saw. Stay off the top two steps of the ladder. Home is a 1920s bungalow in Bay View I've rebuilt room by room, with Kielbasa the beagle following me to the garage.
