About Anna Kowalski
I'm Anna, an early-years educator in Calgary. I spent ten years in licensed daycares and have run my own parent-and-baby playgroup in a community hall for eight years. I'm trained in infant first aid and recertify every year. At home there are Zofia and Tomasz, now 12 and 9, my husband Marek, and Maple, a calm old golden retriever who visits playgroup on special days. Here we look at baby toys, play mats and safe play spaces, with a focus on what a child is actually learning at each stage, from time on their tummy (around 0 to 6 months) to early pretend play. In our playgroup the favourite toys are rarely the ones that light up. Our rule is simple: safety comes first, and every toy for a child under three passes the small-parts check before anything else.
