I got my first articulated figure at seven, a robot with four points of articulation and a sticker that peeled off by Christmas, and I've been chasing better joints ever since. I started building model kits in college. By day I'm a property insurance adjuster, fourteen years now, which made me very serious about documenting a collection. Here I write about action figures, collecting, displaying and model kits: ratchet joints, sculpt detail, paint apps, lighting and keeping sunlight off your shelf. I know. Sunlight is the final boss. Our spare room in Natomas is now a display room, my son Ken has started his own small shelf, and Mecha, our tortoiseshell cat, has knocked over exactly one shelf. So far.
