Every Sunday I cook for twelve, my husband Joe and our three kids, my mother, my two brothers and their families, and that's before somebody brings a new boyfriend who has never seen this much food in one place. I grew up at my nonna's elbow in South Philadelphia, started catering out of a church kitchen at twenty-four, and twenty years later I run a small catering company doing weddings and parish events. Here I write about pantry staples, olive oil, gift baskets and cooking for a crowd, with quantities that actually feed people. My nonna used to say, "Better too much than not enough." I took that personally. Our fat old tabby, Provolone, supervises the kitchen. He's worse than my brothers.
